I just got off of our daily Grow Rich mastermind that I had the honor of hosting this morning (I'm hosting every week on Wednesdays now).
Today I spoke about how great things take time.
Rich, solid, long-term businesses take time.
As entrepreneurs, we often look at people who have had businesses for 10 or 20 or 30 years, and we compare ourselves to them and want our businesses to look like theirs, we want the results that they are getting, and we want things to look as polished as their businesses.
And this is not realistic.
When we start out in a business- if we are wanting to create something sustainable long term, we have to go into it with the mindset,
"This is gonna take some time."
We are literally programmed and conditioned to expect instant gratification these days.
We see things marketed in a way that we think we can get overnight success, whether it's in our businesses or with our health or weight loss goals or whatever.
And we may roll our eyes when we see claims like this, but we've also been conditioned to expect it and to chase it.
The fact remains, if we don't build our businesses on a solid foundation, using principles, it's not going to last as long.
I love the way Jack Kerouac puts it:
"Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion."
Sometimes we seek the short term solution or fast win so much that we do more work and spend more money and then spend more time trying to fix the mistakes than we do if we just spend our time and money building for the long term.
But when we build a principle based business with intention, we can build something that lasts.
I went into more detail and examples on the call this morning...
