Hey, Amy here.
I've never been a religious person.
I was actually raised going to ashrams with my parents and chanting and meditating in the presence of a guru.
And I've always been intrigued by those that are enlightened... people who have figured out how to live in a state of bliss all the time, whether it's a guru or a saint or the Dalai Lama, or Thich Nhat Hanh or Buddha... I love these kinds of teachings.
I love learning from people who are truly happy and blissed out- I always get a lot from listening to them... and they are some of my favorite people to learn from.
So the other night I found a teaching on YouTube from a guru named Sadhguru-and I listened
to it before I went to bed.
It gave me a new perspective, so I wanted to share it with you... because I feel it's a powerful perspective.
I'm paraphrasing, but here's the gist of it.
More than a million people who go to bed tonight will not wake up tomorrow morning.
When you wake up tomorrow you can say,
"Wow, I'm still alive. Over a million people didn't wake up today
but here I am, alive."
And when we check on our loved ones and they are still alive, we get to celebrate that. Because if at least 1 million people died last night (which they do every night), then at least 10 million people lost someone who was dear to them.
So if nobody who is dear to you is gone this morning, you can smile and be happy and be truly grateful for that.
When you are conscious of your mortality, you will want to truly know the nature of this life.
Remind yourself of your mortality once ever hour. You are mortal.
And when you do this, you will stop wasting time on things that don’t matter and start to do only the things you truly want to do, things that are important to you.
That’s what you should be doing, because we have a very limited amount of time.
1 million people won’t wake up tomorrow.
It’s a brief
life.
You should be doing work that truly matters to you.
It's not about what you will become, it's about who you will be.
What will be the
experience of your life?
Will it be a peek experience or a mediocre nonsense?
When you remind yourself that you're mortal and celebrate everything with a smile, wonders will happen to you.
