Hey, Amy here.
I just wanted to share something that's been coming up in my business the last couple of days.
It's been a great reminder about how we are not the best judge of our own work.
I know I say this all the time- how marketing is always an experiment and we don't actually know what will land or not land with our audience.
Some of you may have heard me share about the experience I had years ago where my business partner at the time took a LOT of
time to build a capture page for me that he thought was going to explode my business.
He modeled it off of a 'guru's' page... and he was sure it was going to convert like crazy.
When I put it out into the marketplace- I paid $100 to run a Facebook ad to it, and it generated one lead.
One $100 lead. And that one $100 lead did NOT convert to a sale. He couldn't believe it.
I think of that story often, as a reminder that we are not the best judge of how things will be received.
The marketplace is the judge.
So I had something similar happen a couple of days ago that I wanted to share with you... and this might be helpful if you are creating short form video or any type of content.
A couple of days ago, when I went to my mailbox, I had a stack of
mail.
Most of it was stressful mail, like bills, insurance policy price increase notifications, and the like (you know, the type of mail we typically get as adults- yuck).
But, mixed in with that mail was an envelope
from one of my friends in Colorado.
Many of my friends know that I really miss fall... the changing of the leaves is one of my favorite times of year and, living on the coast in NC, we just don't get to experience that here. And I really miss it.
So when I opened the envelope from my friend in Colorado, it was filled with fall leaves... no letter or anything... just a bunch of beautifully colored leaves.
It was so thoughtful, and it literally moved me to tears.
Since it touched me so much, I decided to share it.
