Hey, Amy
here.
So many people online are only showing you their highlight reel... when you look around on YouTube and social media, what you are seeing is a carefully crafted and curated selection of their life.
They are usually not showing you the blood, sweat, tears, rejection, heartbreak, and the days when they get
totally knocked down to their knees and don't know how to move forward....
...or the days when they feel like giving up altogether.
Nobody's life can be totally represented by their highlight reel., so don't waste time comparing yourself with the version of people
that only shows the highlights.
One of the things we tend to do as humans is to compare ourselves to others.
This is a slippery slope for a lot of reasons... the main one being that the most important thing we can be is
ourselves, and when we compare ourselves to others sometimes we feel like we have to behave like them or market like them or whatever.
We weren't born to be a cookie cutter version of someone else. That's not what our souls came here to be or to do.
And comparing yourself to some else's highlight reel is
disempowering too, because it makes us feel like we are doing something wrong if we don't feel like we have it all together the way people make it look on social media.
So don't compare yourself to anyone's highlight reel.
And, I know I talk about this a lot but it's really okay to just be yourself and let people see things about your life that are not necessarily your highlight reel.
It's okay to take people behind the scenes...
It's okay to share the things that are not so glamorous about your life or our business- these are the things that make you relatable.
These are the good parts that bind us together.
It's actually easier to share when you look like you have it all together, to just put a happy face on,
which is why everyone doesn't share the other stuff.
It takes courage to be open and vulnerable and not everyone is up for that.
Not everyone wants to be relatable- they would rather be seen as the guru on the
mountaintop or the person that has it all together.
But I promise you, when you really share yourself in a vulnerable way, this is what inspires people.
You will be much more relatable when you do this... and you will
inspire so many more people when you do this.
