Hey, Amy here.
I was listening to the Ram Dass podcast yesterday, one of my favorite shows on the planet... and he was talking about being vulnerable.
Someone asked a question about how to open up
their heart again after having been hurt, and they were afraid to allow themselves to be vulnerable again.
He said,
"Thank your lucky stars that you can feel that vulnerable."
And I was thinking about this in every way... it applies to love, and it also applies to what we do as entrepreneurs.
So many of us are afraid to be vulnerable... we want to try to act like we have it all together, or hide our emotions about things. Or we are just afraid to share ourselves, period.
When I think about this, I literally can't think of anything worse than getting to the end of my life and realizing that I didn't share myself fully in every way... in every area of my life...
...in love, in my friendships, in business, everywhere.
What is the point of doing things on a surface level?
Really... how can anyone ever get to actually know who you are if you hide out or close yourself off?
On the podcast yesterday, Ram Dass went on to say.
"If you close yourself off because you are afraid of getting hurt again, it’s like you are alive but you are not fully alive because you can’t risk it."
In business we can substitute getting hurt with being rejected (we might
say we are afraid of being rejected).
And the same thing goes... if you close yourself off because you are afraid of getting rejected or judged by your peers or your family or whatever it is that you're afraid of, it's like you are alive but you are not fully alive because you can't risk it.
I'm here to say
RISK IT.
This is your life, this is your business, you have a message to share and if you really want to take it all the way it's going to require being vulnerable. It just is.
