Hey, Amy
here.
I'm feeling a bit exhausted after watching all of the hustle and bustle over the last several days with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
Everything has been feeling super materialistic which, to me, is not what the holidays are really about.
After
getting bombarded with a gazillion texts and emails with people selling, selling, selling with countdown timers, urgency, scarcity, and all of it... it just really has me thinking more about giving.
It has me thinking about giving versus selling.
We are all selling something if we have a business... and we all also have the ability to focus on our contribution to the world with our work.
We can ask ourselves:
What is it that I am giving?
What is my
contribution?
What is my message to the world?
What is my solution for the people that need my solution?
What is my medicine for the world?
I looked up the definition of giving Tuesday yesterday, and I found this
definition that I love.
"Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to support their communities. On Giving Tuesday – November 28, 2023 – the whole world comes together to give back in many different ways: through acts of kindness, and gifts of voice, time, talent, or
treasure."
This is so beautiful, and I feel like this is what we are supposed to be doing every day. Giving.
Each of us has so many ways that we can give, ways that don't cost money... like it says through acts
of kindness, and gifts of voice, time, talent, or treasure.
We all have the ability to be kind. We all have a voice that matters and has the ability to make a difference for others, we all have the gift of time that we can share with people, and we all have talents we can share and treasures we can share.
Every day can be for giving ourselves in this way. Every day is for giving.
