Hey, Amy here.
I just got off of one of my daily marketing masterminds on Zoom, which started while Facebook and Instagram were down this morning.
We had a fun conversation
about it... we tend to feel lost when this happens. :)
It's kinda crazy when you realize how addicted we all are to these platforms... like full blown junkies.
We depend on them and when they are not available, we panic.
Were you panicking today?
Anyway, I wanted to bring this to the forefront as a reminder about why I'm constantly talking about the importance of building an email list, and why I'm always suggesting that you move the people that want to hear more from you off of social media and onto your email list.
The reason is that you own your email list. And you control it.
As I say all the time, your social media accounts can get hacked at any time, or they can decide to close your account without notice.
Or they can crash like they did today...
You use these platforms for free and you don't own them or have any control over them.
As my friend Nick said on today's mastermind,
"OMG, I couldn't log into Facebook and I was freaking out!"
You don't control the algorithm on these accounts either, so there's no telling who will see your posts on any given day.
But when you send an email out to the people who asked to be there, it goes to all of them... and nobody can take that list of subscribers away from you.
It's an asset that you own.
Today was a perfect example of why I believe in building an email list so strongly.
This concept, to me, is one of the most important pieces of marketing on the internet.
So, if you felt any type of panic (or addiction vibes) kicking in today, now you understand why I say this all the time.
I also just wanted to make sure you know that I did a full training a while back where I show you, from soup to nuts, how to create a valuable freebie that you can offer to your target audience so that they can opt in and make their way over to your email list.
But I'm also just feeling super grateful that I can communicate with my most important audience members right here. What a gift.
It's not something I take for granted, or take lightly...
So I just wanted to remind you today not to skip this step in your marketing.
If you have any questions on this topic, let me know... I'm happy to answer them.
