Hey, Amy here.
I just wanted to share this thought today for anyone who is scared to put themselves out there.
If you find it scary to hit ‘publish’ or ‘post’ when you create a piece of content or you are too scared to even turn on the camera in the first place, here's a little
thought to help you get out of your own way.
I know it can feel scary to put yourself out there. It's such a vulnerable feeling (especially if you haven't done it before).
But, isn't it even scarier to:
- live a life where you don’t play full out?
- die with your message or your music still in you?
- not share your voice when you have something to share?
- watch others living a life you wish you were brave enough to live?
We all have to start somewhere. I was a deer in the headlights when I first
started making videos. It was the most vulnerable feeling ever.
And I still am sometimes.
I still get really nervous a lot of the time, especially when I'm speaking or teaching live.
But, it is something that we can better at the more we do it, just like anything else, so really we just need to do it, and get out of our own way.
I was so inspired the other night. We had a marketing mastermind for a business that I'm in and we always bring out a couple of people each week who are getting results and making sales in their business to share about the marketing strategies that they are doing that are getting them results.
And one of our featured members this week shared that he was super nervous as
he was speaking to us on Zoom. He said he had never done that before, he had never done any type of public speaking at all.
But when I contacted him earlier that day to ask him if he would come out and and share he said yes without hesitation.
He just said yes.
Sometimes when you admit that you are nervous like he did, it makes it easier too. It alleviates some of the pressure we put on ourselves, and
it makes you very relatable at the same time. It helps people have compassion, and it takes you off of the pedastal.
I reached out to him afterwards to thank him for saying yes and to thank him for everything he shared. He was seriously such an inspiration, especially because he shared from the heart and admitted that he felt vulnerable and nervous.
I wanted to make sure he really knew how much he inspired people
that night. And he responded back to say thank you for asking him, and that he was so glad that he did it even though he was nervous.
And you will inspire people when you show up as well. Even if you're scared.
