It’s been an insane few days for us...
After 2 trips to the urgent care on Wednesday and an all nighter on the phone with doctors while I was icing my daughter down for hours trying to control her fever (it was up above 105 and lots of vomiting) we ended up in the ER on Thursday. It’s suspected to be a kidney infection and we will know more once we get the results back from the culture. In the meantime, she seems to be responding to the temporary antibiotic and her fever is finally down somewhat.
Phew. It’s such a crazy time right now. In the past I would have just whisked her off to the ER without thinking twice. But of course that’s not recommended anymore, and even the doctors were wanting us to avoid it at all costs. In any case, I’m hopeful that she is on the mend and we will get the answers we need soon.
In the meantime, we have been very focused on gratitude and all of the blessings in our lives.
No, hanging out in a hospital during the current health crisis is not where I ever imagined I'd be. And making the choice to go wasn't easy (even for the doctors, like I mentioned).
But we are so grateful for the care we received and that the medication that they gave her (without fully knowing what's going on because the tests take a few days) seems to be helping some.
We are so thankful that we are home, and things are under control.
And there are no words for the amount of gratitude I have for all of the support we have received from close friends and family and neighbors who have been checking in on us and sending us good vibes.
So, I just wanted to remind you to remember to count your blessings.
Even when things seem scary or crazy, there are always plenty of things to be grateful for.
And, in crazy times like these, I just think blessings are a good thing to count right now. (It sure beats counting deaths, stock market losses, and rolls of toilet paper, right?).
I hope you are having a good weekend and staying safe.
You are a blessing in my life.
I love you,
Amy
