Hey, Amy here...


So, if you've been following my emails
and posts over the last week, you know
that my baby (Ava, she's 5) twisted her
ankle on a trampoline last week and ended
up missing an entire week of school.
 
 
 
 
We spent a day at the hospital and the
rest of the time I just decided I didn't
want her to have to go to school and hobble
around on her crutches and feel left out
while the other kids were running around.
 
 
Then, this morning when I was taking her
to school, she asked me if I would pick her
up early today so we could spend some time
together.
 
I said, without hesitation,
 
"Yes... I would love to. " :)
 
 
It's times like these that I get really present
to how fortunate I am that I don't have to
answer to anyone else and I get to live life
on my terms. 
 
 
Here's another example...
 
 
Thursday of this week is the last day of
school and the 2nd grade class needed a
parent to volunteer to take the kids on a
hike and a picnic.
 
Guess who's going?
 
Yup, me.
 
 
I actually wouldn't miss it for the world.
 
 
See, if I was working for someone else I
would either have to
 
 
1) Ask permission to hang out with my
daughter's class on the last day of school...
 
OR
 
2) Miss the opportunity altogether.
 
 
In my world, neither of those are an option...
 
I need to live life on my terms.
 
 
(Let me just mention, I'm a single mom... so
it's not that I get to do these things with my
kids because I have a husband who's the
breadwinner. It's ALL me.)
 
 
And my kids are growing up SO fast....
 
 
I definitely don't want to miss a beat in
their lives. 
 
 
I REFUSE.
 
 
Ever since I was pregnant with my first
daughter I decided I would stop living on
someone else's terms.
 
 
I decided I would create a life for myself where
I could live on MY terms and be with my
children.
 
 
And now that I have freedom in my life, I
wouldn't trade it for the world.
 
 
AND... now that I've figured out how to have
freedom and to live life on my terms, my goal
is to...
